Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 Review with full Specifications and Price

After the huge success of Galaxy Grand I9082, Samsung is going aggressive with a 5.8” screen Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 smartphone running on the latest 4.2.2 [Jelly Bean] Android OS and with a number of latest features borrowed from the flagship Galaxy S4. Samsung is maintaining the same strategy as the popular Grand with a lower resolution qHD display, slightly better dual-core 1.4GHz CPU, better 1.5GB RAM and the same Broadcom GPU. Obviously Samsung has maintained the same design, though there is a nice mesh design on the body just like the Galaxy S4, so basically this Mega 5.8 is a bigger Galaxy S4 with half the power. The pricing is also very attractive, almost near to the launch price of Grand. At this moment, Mega 5.8 retails at 24,000 Rs ~ 420USD, though there are few more players now in this price range like the Nexus 4 and Sony Xperia SP with better looks, specs and performance. But, you will always miss the awesome eye-catchy features of TouchWiz UX interface on those more powerful phones. There is also the bigger version of Mega coming soon with a gigantic 6.3” HD display named and better hardware called Galaxy mega 6.3. Just have a quick look at the features and the specifications with reviews of the new Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 I9152 below-

Specifications with Review
DISPLAY Size 5.8 inches (14.72 cm) This large display is obviously not easy to handle with one hand, you have to get used to it. The resolution is only qHD and the pixel density is just okay. But, because of the good color reproduction and relatively smooth pixels, the display doesn’t look bad at all. In-fact from a normal distance, you are not going to complain and as it’s a very large display, you are not supposed to look from a very close distance.

PRICE Approx. 24,000 INR ~ 420 USD Good pricing, value for money rating 4/5

Strong points : Very innovative user interface with hundreds of awesome features, gestures & options like the flagship Galaxy S4. The extremely large display, good RAM and CPU make this Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 a very desirable phone for the mid-range phone buyers.

Weak points : The main drawback is the relatively lower resolution display and the huge dimensions though if you need a smaller phone, you can get the Galaxy Grand Duos I9052, so these should not be the reasons for not buying the phone. What should matter are the low internal memory of only 5.01 GB user available out-of-the-box and the relatively low quality Broadcom Videocore IV HW GPU which may slow down after few months of uses. Sony Xperia SP is offering a faster CPU, premium Adreno 320 GPU and an HD 4.6” display.

Suitable for those people who are looking for a large display phone mainly for watching movies, playing games and browsing. This phone can also be considered as a compact tablet with SmartPhone like features. The innovative features, tricks and Samsung branding make this Galaxy mega 5.8 a very desirable phone at a very good price.
